Bedeutung und Geschichte der Dorothea
Weibliche Form von dem Ende griechischen Namen Δωροθεος (Dorotheos), die "Gabe Gottes" aus dem griechischen δωρον (Doron) "Geschenk" und θεος (Theos) "Gott" bedeutet. Dorothea war der Name von zwei frühen heiligen, insbesondere der 4. Jh. Märtyrer Dorothea von Caesarea. Es wurde auch die 14. Jh. St. Dorothea von Montau, Lasten, der Schutzpatron von Preußen war.
